I came to AI chat from tabletop and play-by-post roleplay, which means I care less about the first reply and more about message two hundred: does the character remember the scene, keep its voice, and stay on track?

For each platform I run the same three test characters through long sessions on the free plan and on paid plans where I can, and I compare memory, filters and reply quality side by side.

If you want to know whether a free plan is good enough for an actual story rather than a quick chat, that's the question I try to answer.
